Last Saturday afternoon I attended a seminar given by Lisa Nichols. It was a 3-hour power event that was being held in over 20 countries worldwide. Lisa is a life coach and inspirational speaker who has been gaining in popularity in recent years. Her story is nothing short of amazing. She literally started from being impoverished, and motivated herself to finding a better way of life for herself and her son. Over the last 20 years she has authored 7 books, started many projects to help teens, and founded her own business. I don’t know how I had never heard of her before.
The event I attended was call The Abundance NOW Purpose Party. I was surrounded by about 25 other wonderful people all looking to be inspired to take life to the next level. Lisa connected with our group and other groups throughout the world via the internet. It was like one huge video conference; she could see us and we could see her, as well as some of the other groups who were connected. It was a dynamic and powerful meeting that really got me thinking about stepping up my game. Not just for my business, but also for other areas of my life.
So, this past week, I have been taking care of some things that I have been putting off. I have been getting more organized and holding myself accountable for my time every day. I have been committed to writing things down and creating a schedule of what I want to accomplish. No matter how efficient, effective, and organized you are there is always room for improvement. I was lucky enough to win a copy of Lisa’s latest book, as a door prize. It’s called Abundance NOW, and I can’t wait to start reading it. (You should see the stack of books I have to read).
On Monday, I was talking with a friend of mine about drinking alkaline water. I told him that I don’t buy any of the water that has a specific alkaline level because my tap water at home is already around a pH of 8. I know this because I have been trying to grow plants in my fish pond, but they keep dying. I discovered it was because the pH of my water is too high for the plants. Monday evening, I decided that I wanted to know exactly what the pH of my water is so I grabbed some old test strips that I had lying around and checked it. I was shocked and horrified to find out that it was no longer around 8 but actually around 6. That’s very acidic for drinking and bathing water. When I checked the well water at my mom’s place, her water was around 7.5. I immediately stopped drinking our “city” water and started drinking the well water. I was dazed and confused about the fact that our water could be so toxic.
On Tuesday, I took a half gallon of well water with me to work; I was suspicious of all city water. I decided that I needed to do a little research and then contact our water department with some sound scientific proof that they were poisoning us. I brought some water home from work to test so that I could compare it with our tap water. I didn’t have very many test strips left, so I got out my test kit for checking the water in the fish pond. It is a more sophisticated test kit that allows you to check about 6 different aspects of water, like hardness, and ammonia levels.
I checked the pH of the water from work, my tap water, and my mother’s well water so that I had lots of information to send to the water company. To my amazement, I discovered that my tap water was not around 6 as the test strips had indicated, but was actually around 7.5. The pH of Mom’s water was around 7.3. The pH of the water from work was around 7.6. Talk about being relieved! Apparently, my test strips were a little too old to be accurate.
Still, I have to give myself credit; I had been fired up and committed to taking immediate action on the crisis of our water being too acidic. Oh well, at least I discovered my error before I invested a lot of time into my cause, and before I actually sent an email to the water company.
The rest of my week has been a little lower key, but productive. I am working on a breakthrough with some projects, thanks to my new found inspiration! I will let you know how things progress.
