Other than a couple of days of really nice weather, there was really nothing remarkable about this last week. I have been working on building my calendar, and plugging away at my aromatherapy certification. For once, I had a week that was uneventful.
Thursday, I attended a National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) chapter meeting and reconnected with some women I haven’t seen in a while. I really love attending these meetings because they always have an inspirational speaker, and I get to meet some really amazing women.
This week, the speaker was a woman from our own chapter giving a talk on financial independence. She is an independent broker who is really passionate about her job; she loves helping people make the most of their investments.
I had missed the last several meetings due to schedule conflicts, and I was needing some encouragement. Everyone is always so positive and uplifting that it makes the long day worth it.
The weather forecast is predicting rain all weekend, which is fine with me. I could use some stay in and snuggle time with my husband and my kitties. It is going to be cool enough to keep away the temptation to do any work outside; although we do need to fix a broken water pipe in the barn caused by the last hard freeze.
Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. I will more than likely be working hard on something that day while my husband is at work. If the weather is warm enough, I hope to be outside.
Over this long weekend I am thinking about making some beeswax candles, and wax cubes for wax warmers out of the lovely collection of essential oils I have. That was something we were supposed to do as a family over Christmas, but we just couldn’t get together long enough to actually make anything.
Last year, at Christmas, we made custom blends of essential oils for car air fresheners, candles, and I made myself some perfume. We had a great time! I got some new oils, so I guess I will just make some lovely things for myself. On some other weekend, I will help my girls make their own.
Besides having custom blended candles and air fresheners that are organic and actually healthy and beneficial for you, they are a little cheaper to make than buying it already made. There is the added benefit that they are environmentally friendly, and do not irritate visitors or pets.
For some of the spice and floral scents, I found a company that produces organic fragrance oils. I am excited to have all sorts of delightful aromas in my home. The company also has fragrance oils that smell like food, but beyond coffee and pumpkin fragrances, I am just not into candles that make me hungry.
Perfecting making these crafts may lead to me hosting workshops and webinars to show other people how fun and easy it is to do. I always like to share my knowledge with those wanting a better quality of life.
By the way, I finished the book, The Shack. I really enjoyed reading it, almost to the point that I didn’t want it end. It is very uplifting and thought provoking. If you get a chance to read it, I recommend that you do.
I will eventually give it to someone else to read, but there are parts of the book I want to re-read. Who knows when I will read another book just for fun.
My post this week is short, because like I said, my week was uneventful. I should have more to write about next week as I intend to surround myself with my favorite things this weekend. As I speak, Sam is napping on the bed with me. Life is good!
Lamentations 3:22-23 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
